This is a reproduction chair in the style of the classic, vintage, Halabala H-269 chair. Originally designed in the 1930's by the Czech designer Jindrich Halabala. The original chairs had bentwood arms but I have redesigned it to be made from high quality birch plywood. The use of plywood enhances the feature effect on the arms as shown in the pictures. The chair frame is finished in a very durable, clear, oil wax finish. The chair has a sprung seat and back with traditional hair upholstery. The chair is covered in stunning Bakerloo Kingfisher velvet from Kirby Design. This geometric moquette design was designed in the late 1960s. It was used extensively to refurbish trains from the late 1930s serving the Bakerloo, Northern, Piccadilly, East London and Central Underground lines.
This chair is based on the orignial design but has been given a slighly more contemporay look, especially with the endgrain features on the arms. So why spend thousands on an original when you can have a new chair. I make chairs to order and so please also look at my website: endgrainchairs. If you are interested in a variation on this chair with different fabric then please get in touch.
