Carimate Armchairs, Vico Magistretti for Cassina, Italy c1960s, Set of 4. Iconic'Carimate' armchair by Vico Magistretti in a vintage red stained beech & rush seating. Designed by Vico Magistreti in 1959 for a golf club restaurant project in Carimate, Lombardy, thus the name.
The chair was produced by Cassina in 1962, it represented a fusion of Italian craftsmanship and postwar design. It was available in a natural beech wood frame, or with a red or a black stain and a handwoven rush seating. The armchair later developed into a side chair and a small bench.Solid red stained beech wood frames with rush seats. In very good condition overall. The frames have a nice patina and traces of use over time. The colour has lost it's initial vibrancy and it has a soft muted hue. W58 x D50x H75 SH 44 cm.
